September 25, 2006 TiBraze1200We continue the study of brazing ceramics using our heat-resistant brazing filler metal TiBraze1200 (Ni-27Ti-10Al). A composite filler metal containing 70 wt.% of TiBraze1200 and 30 wt.% of Ti-30Ni eutectic alloy powder was tested for brazing alumina ceramic in dry argon at 2084-2100oF (1140-1150oC) to improve spreading of the liquid filler metal inside of the brazing gap. Both wetting of ceramic and spreading along the large surface were improved due to early melting of the Ti-Ni eutectic. July 5, 2005 TiBrazeAl-650ADevelopment of the low-temperature filler metal TiBrazeAl-650A designed for brazing thin-wall titanium articles and titanium matrix composites is completed. The filler metal has a composition (in wt.%): Al-2.5Mg-(0.2-0.3)Cr. It is supplied in the form of foil 0.03 in. (0.8 mm) and 0.062 in. (1.6 mm) thick. May 16, 2005 TiBraze1200Our heat-resistant brazing filler metal TiBraze1200 (Ni-27Ti-10Al) was tested for joining alumina ceramic. Brazing was carried out both in vacuum and dry argon at 2100oF (1150oC). The filler metal exhibited good wetting and brazing ability when it was applied at the entrance of brazing gap. If the filler metal is applied into the gap, the joined ceramic parts should be slightly compressed. March 8, 2005 |
